Description

The Tower

Upright: downfall, destruction, sudden change, turmoil, catastrophe
Reversed: oppression, inevitable crisis, shocking truth, enlightment

The tower is probably the worst card in the taro, even than the Devil. It represents physical destruction, but also ambitions build on falses premises. The picture in the card represents the Babel tower, which was built by haughty architets that tried to reach the Heavens. As a punishment, if was destroyed by God´s wrath. It is a warning about the value of humbleness and to never take it all for granted.

At first, Michael Morninstar had everything: riches, intelligence, good looks, amazing powers, the girls´ interest. However, with all that he become arrogante and looked down on people, treating them as tools to have more power. Until he tried to do that with Gwen. Michael not only was defeated, but lost all the vital energy he had stolen from his vitims. That destroyed his face, just like the tower of the card, turning him into Darkstar.

For twice, Darkstar had his face restored, ironically with the help of his enemies (Kevin and, posteriorly, Gwen). Many people in his place would have been grateful and taken that as a chance to start a new life. Instead, Michael tried to take advantage to get his revenge and become more powerful, just to be defeated again - and again.

Don´t stand at the top of your tower: be humble. But when your life comes from upside down, learn to stand up among the rubbles and be ready for a restart.
